Lipid & Cholesterol
(All prices include VAT)
A Lipid Profile measures the fats in your blood that affect heart and blood vessel health. It reports total cholesterol, LDL, the harmful type that can clog arteries, HDL, the protective type, and triglycerides. High LDL or triglycerides and low HDL raise the risk of heart attack and stroke over time. The results help your doctor judge your heart risk and decide whether diet, exercise or medication is needed. It is one of the most important routine tests for adults.

Book it as a fasting test unless your doctor tells you otherwise. Finish dinner by 10pm and come in the morning. Water is allowed and helps make the blood draw easier. Fasting matters most for the triglyceride number, which rises for several hours after a meal.
Total cholesterol is the overall amount. LDL is the type that builds up in artery walls, so lower is better. HDL clears cholesterol away, so higher is better. Triglycerides are a separate fat that responds strongly to sugar and alcohol. Your report shows the reference range used by our laboratory beside each number.
Most healthy adults check every four to six years. If you have diabetes, high blood pressure, a family history of early heart disease, or you are on cholesterol medication, your doctor will usually ask for it once a year or more often while treatment is being adjusted.
Often yes, particularly when the numbers are only mildly outside range. Regular walking, less saturated fat, fewer sugary drinks and losing weight around the middle all help. Whether that is enough depends on your overall heart risk, not on the cholesterol number alone, and that is a conversation for your doctor.
High cholesterol has no symptoms. It builds up silently in artery walls over years, and the first sign can be a heart attack or a stroke. That is the whole reason this is a screening test rather than a test you take when something feels wrong.
Yes. A licensed nurse comes to you, takes the sample and delivers it to the laboratory under the right conditions. A home visit suits a fasting test well, because you do not have to travel before breakfast.
